Mass Effect Character Concept

Description

An idea I had for a Mass Effect character. I noticed the lack of blondes in Mass Effect and felt like making one :p

Anna Kamensky

Age: 25

Weapons specialties: Pistols, submachine guns

Role: Squad-support specialist

Bio:

Anna is an expert xenobiologist who is extremely young for her accomplishments. Having grown up on the Citadel, she was exposed to many aliens and developed an interest in medicine and alien biology. She entered university at 16 and undertook a rigorous 7-year program that combined her studies with extensive research and a residency. Some of her work was published in major biomedical journals, drawing the attention of top scientists and corporations.

Upon graduation, she was offered positions at many leading biomedical corporations, such as Binary Helix. She
held took a job at Binary Helix for a half a year, but left when high-ranking officials in the Alliance military sought her out as a member of an elite group of scientists allegedly spearheading research on genetic, cybernetic, and biotic enhancement. In reality, the group was researching the biological basis for Reaper indoctrination. As the events of Mass Effect 2 unfold, she is working on this team.

Personality:

In spite of being immersed in studies for a long time, she does not have Liara’s awkwardness and is affable and open. Her personal tastes are refined and include literature and art. Given her interests, education, and upbringing, she unintentionally comes off as snobbish and highbrow to much of the crew. She deeply admires Mordin’s dedication and intelligence but questions how he has used his talents; the two can be heard debating various ethical issues.

She is idealistic and romantic, which causes some characters, such as Jack and Jacob, to dismiss her as naïve. She is curious and often asks Shepard about his/her life and experiences in combat. If recruited, she typically works in the medical bay or the tech lab, assisting Mordin or Chakwas (she appears in whichever room you enter first).

If aboard the Normandy, she receives a message alerting the disappearance of professor whom she worked extensively with. He has been captured by Batarians and is being forced to develop a bioweapon. As a personal assignment/loyalty mission, she asks Shepard to help find him. Upon his discovery, however, he has been implanted with a neural control chip. Shepard can choose to either capture him, in the hope that his mental condition can be restored, or kill him. Neither choice affects Anna's loyalty, but they result different future dialogue. Shepard can also recover the professor’s research on the bioweapon. Choosing to destroy it will gain Anna’s loyalty, but choosing to keep it will not. With a sufficiently high persuasion check, Shepard can gain both the bioweapon data and Anna’s loyalty.

Blondes are rare in Mass Effect because, for the most part, humans are rather interracial, mixes of many things, and since blonde hair and blue eyes are recessive traits, they get overwritten by the many browns and other darks. The only blonde-hair-blue-eyes character currently in existence is Kahlee Sanders, who appears in the novels.

ALL nerdiness aside, I'm commenting because I adore the design. Most of the costume designs I see for original Mass Effect characters don't stick in my mind. But this one caught my eye right away. As someone who is currently in school studying everything there is in video game design, I appreaciate interesting designs like this. Good job!
